Thoracic paravertebral blocks (TPVB) can be used for 
analgesia for abdominal, thoracic and breast surgery. 
Recent studies have suggested it may reduce the incidence 
of chronic pain and breast cancer recurrence. This article 
discusses the indications, anatomy and technique for TPVB.
